  • January 22, 2018 - USGS Water Data availability during lapse in Federal funding

    Due to a lapse in Federal funding, the U.S. Geological Survey must suspend those parts of its data collection and distribution processes requiring human intervention. However, automated reporting and serving of telemetered data will continue.

    Users may note some degradation in the quality and completeness of real-time streamflow, groundwater and water-quality data from some reporting stations due to the suspension of field calibrations and adjustments, especially as high flows occur, aquatic vegetation becomes dominant, or ice forms in high altitude streams. The USGS will continue to monitor some performance aspects of its network using a skeleton workforce.

LOCATION - Lat 43°16'58.0", long 74°57'33.1" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Herkimer County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 02020004, on right bank 15 ft upstream from bridge on Reinhart Road, 1.3 mi upstream of State Highway 8 bridge, and 1.4 mi northwest of Gray.
DRAINAGE AREA - 60.9 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 2014 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 1,225.16 ft above NGVD of 1929.
REMARKS - Water Years 2015-16: Records fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Outstanding floods occurred in August and September 2011. Flood in August or September 2011 reached a stage of about 19.9 ft, discharge not determined, from information by local resident.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 1,410 ft³/s, Dec. 25, 2014, Mar. 11, 2016; maximum gage height, 13.39 ft, Mar. 11, 2016; minimum discharge, 13 ft³/s, Sept. 7, 8, 9, 2015; minimum gage height, 4.04 ft, Sept. 8, 2015.
