LOCATION - Lat 40°56'03", long 74°35'29" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Jefferson Township, Morris County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02030103, on downstream left wingwall of southbound bridge on State Route 15, 0.3 mi north of Berkshire Valley, 3.5 mi upstream from confluence with Stephens Brook, and 5.0 mi downstream from Longwood Lake.
DRAINAGE AREA - 24.2 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Continuous-record gaging station, August 2010 to March 2014.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with telemetry and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 830 ft NAVD 88 (from topographic map).
REMARKS - Records poor. Occasional regulation by lakes and ponds upstream.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - The flood of Aug 13, 2000 had a peak discharge of 2,500 ft³/s at discontinued gaging station 01379700 Rockaway River at Berkshire Valley, NJ, located 1,700 ft downstream of present site.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 1,840 ft³/s, Aug 28, 2011, gage height, 13.53 ft; minimum discharge, 2.2 ft³/s, Sep 11, 2010.
