01386000 WEST BROOK NEAR WANAQUE, NJ
LOCATION - Lat 41°04'25", long 74°18'42" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Ringwood Borough, Passaic County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02030103, on right bank 500 ft upstream from Wanaque Reservoir, 0.3 mi downstream from Burnt Meadow Brook, and 2.5 mi northwest of Wanaque.
DRAINAGE AREA - 11.8 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1934 to September 1978, May 2002 to current year. Monthly discharge only for October to December 1934, published in WSP 1302.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with telemetry, crest-stage gage and concrete control. Datum of gage is 326.79 ft above NGVD of 1929 (levels from New Jersey Geological Survey benchmark).
REMARKS - Records fair, except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Records herein include flow over spillway and through ports in dam or through waste gate in dam. Occasional regulation at low flow from unknown source.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Sep 16, 1999 reached a stage of 7.1 ft, from floodmarks, discharge about 2,500 ft³/s from rating curve extended above 630 ft³/s and estimated overbank flow.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 1,900 ft³/s, Mar 30, 1951, gage height 6.60 ft, from floodmark, maximum discharge includes flow through all ports, 6 inch valve, and overbank flow; minimum discharge, No flow part of many days when water level was below outlet ports after waste gate was closed.
