LOCATION - Lat 40°28'59", long 74°24'46" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, New Brunswick City, Middlesex County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02030105, on left bank at dam on Westons Mill Pond at Westons Mills, 110 ft upstream of bridge on Burnet Street (Tower Center Boulevard), 200 ft downstream of bridge on State Route 18, and 1.3 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 44.9 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR NJ-89-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Continuous-record discharge station December 1988 to October 1994, July 1995 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with telemetry above masonry dam. Datum of gage is NGVD of 1929.
COOPERATION - Gage operated in cooperation with the City of New Brunswick Water Department.
REMARKS - Records fair, except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Discharge given herein includes flow through floodgates when open. Flow regulated by Farrington Lake, capacity, 655,250,000 gal. Diversion just upstream of gage by New Brunswick Water Department. Discharges above 1,500 ft³/s from rating curve extension on basis of logarithmic extrapolation.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 7,700 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 1,500 ft³/s on basis of logarithmic extrapolation, Aug 28, 2011, gage height, 20.26 ft; minimum discharge, 0.00 ft³/s, Sep 29, 1989.
