LOCATION - Lat 42°04'38", long 74°58'04" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Delaware County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 02040102, near release chamber at Downsville Dam on East Branch Delaware River, and 1.6 mi east of Downsville.
DRAINAGE AREA - 372 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR NY-90-1: Drainage area. WDR NY-71-1: 1970-Diversion. WDR NY-81-1: 1980-Diversion.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - September 1954 to September 2013 (month-end elevations, contents, and diversions). October 2013 to current year (daily observation elevations).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is NGVD of 1929 (levels by Board of Water Supply, City of New York).
COOPERATION - Elevation record and capacity table provided by New York City Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS - Reservoir is formed by an earthfill rockfaced dam. Storage began Sept. 15, 1954. Usable capacity 140,190 mil gal between minimum operating level, elevation 1,152.0 ft, and crest of spillway, elevation 1,280.0 ft. Capacity, at crest of spillway, 149,799 mil gal; at minimum operating level, 9,609 mil gal; at sill of diversion tunnel, elevation 1,143.0 ft, 6,098 mil gal; in dead storage below release outlet, elevation 1,126.50 ft, 1,898 mil gal. Figures given herein represent total contents. Reservoir impounds water for diversion (01415200) through East Delaware Tunnel to Rondout Reservoir on Rondout Creek, in Hudson River basin, for water supply to City of New York; for release during periods of low flow in the lower Delaware River basin, as directed by the Delaware River Master; and for conservation release. No diversion prior to Jan. 6, 1955.
