SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2018 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, and water-quality monitor. Datum of gage is 691.1 ft. above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88), from GNSS survey. Prior to November 10, 2022, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 710 or 691.3 ft above NAVD88. GOES and Iridium Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Station is an NGWOS (Next Generation Water Observing System) gage. In 1968 the Pennsylvania Game Commission completed a waterfowl habitat project that includes a 16-foot high monolithic type dam and a shallow lake of about 1,135 surface acres located about 7 miles upstream from gage. Flow is regulated to a very limited extent by the use of flash boards. The release valves were probably closed after the completion of the project and have remained closed since. There are no known diversions. Records are fair except those for estimated discharge, which are poor.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - April 23, 2019 to current year.
REMARKS - Cross-sectional water temperature data is available upon request.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 30.0 °C, Jul 27, 2020; minimum near 0 °C many days during winter periods.
