USGS Water-Year Summary 2023
LOCATION - Lat 40°35'47", long 75°28'28" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Lehigh County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02040106, on left bank at bridge on Tenth Street, and 0.9 mi upstream from confluence with Jordan Creek in Allentown.
DRAINAGE AREA - 98.2 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1986 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, water-quality monitor, and concrete control. Datum of gage is 244.93 ft. above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Prior to November 7, 2022, the datum of gage was reported as 245.63 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Records of diversion provided by City of Allentown through Water Year 2016. Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Lehigh County Authority.
REMARKS - Diversion upstream for municipal water supply by city of Allentown. Monthly diversions were provided to the USGS by the City of Allentown and filed with the Water Science Center through Water Year 2016. Record for water year 2014 is good except for May 16 to 20 and June 13 to July 10, which is fair. Record for water year 2015, 2017, and 2019 is good. No estimated discharges. Record for water years 2016 and 2018 is fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Record for water year 2020 is good except for discharges greater than 3000cfs, which are poor. No estimated discharges. Record for water year 2021 is fair except for discharges greater than 3000cfs and estimated discharge, which are poor.
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: October 2019 to current year. WATER TEMPERATURE: October 2019 to current year. TURBIDITY: August 2020 to September 2023.
COOPERATION - Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the U.S. Geological Survey.
INSTRUMENTATION - Specific conductance, turbidity (discontinued Oct 10, 2023), and water temperature sonde interfaced with a data collection platform, logging at 15-minute interval.
REMARKS - The reporting precision of the turbidity probe in low turbidity water is +/-0.3 FNU. The lowest reportable value, 0 FNU, is subject to this error and does not necessarily indicate a condition of zero turbidity. Turbidity values greater than 1000 FNU are beyond the specification of the sensor and are considered unreliable. Interruptions in the record were due to malfunctions of the equipment.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 1960 microsiemens/cm, Jan 17, 2022 (road salt); minimum, 93 microsiemens/cm, Aug 4, 2020. WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 23.9 °C, Aug 2, 2020; minimum, 0.9 °C, Feb 1, 2021. TURBIDITY: Maximum, 292 FNU, Dec 25, 2020; minimum, 0 FNU, Aug 21, 2020.
