LOCATION - Lat 40°41'37.49", long 76°09'53.18" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Schuylkill County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02040203, 100 ft upstream of confluence with Mill Creek at Port Carbon.
DRAINAGE AREA - 27.2 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - September 15, 2005 to August 17, 2007; March 1, 2008 to July 15, 2010 (discontinued).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 610 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from topographic map.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Schuylkill Headwaters Association and the Schuylkill County Conservation District.
REMARKS - Records poor.
ECOLOGICAL RECORDS
REMARKS - A fish community survey was conducted at Schuylkill River above Mill Creek at Port Carbon, PA (01467471) on October 19, 2005, October 4, 2006, September 23, 2008 and September 24, 2009. Fish were collected by electrofishing with a pulsed-DC current. A single electrofishing pass was conducted in an upstream pattern covering the 100-meter reach. Fish were identified, sorted by species, measured for total length, weighed, and checked for external anomalies. Additional information can be obtained from the U.S. Geological Survey, New Cumberland, Pa. Explanation of table-- Fish family species are in uppercase; names in italics; and common names are in parentheses. Common names follow those of the American Fisheries Society (1991). Dates of the electrofishing survey are listed, with number of individuals surveyed listed in the column under the date.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2001 to July 2010.  Water samples only July 2010 to October 2014.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Schuylkill Headwaters Association and the Schuylkill County Conservation District.
REMARKS - Some values for filtered parameters exceed values for the corresponding unfiltered parameter. These results are within the limits of analytical precision and methods. Station operated as part of the Schuylkill RGI/Pine Knot AMD project.
