01472000 SCHUYLKILL RIVER AT POTTSTOWN, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°14'30", long 75°39'07" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Montgomery County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02040203, on right bank 75 ft upstream from bridge on Hanover Street in Pottstown, and 0.3 mi downstream from Manatawny Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,147 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1927 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 116.92 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.    October 1927 to Nov. 22, 1928, non-recording gage, and Nov. 23, 1928, to Dec. 26, 1972, recording gage at site 100 ft downstream at same datum. Dec. 27, 1972, to May 10, 1974, non-recording gage 1.0 mi downstream at datum 2.83 ft lower. Satellite and landline telemetry at station.  Prior to November 9, 2022, the datum of gage was reported as 117.86 ft above NGVD29
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the Delaware River Basin Commission.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by Blue Marsh Lake (station 01470870) since April 1979, by Still Creek Reservoir (station 01469200) since February 1933, and by Lake Ontelaunee. Records for water years 2014-2016 are fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Records for water years 2017-2023 are fair except for estimated discharge, which is poor.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage known prior to October 1926, 21.0 ft, Feb. 28, 1902, from floodmarks, discharge, about 53,900 ft³/s.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2002 to current year.
COOPERATION - Water-quality samples were collected as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Water-Quality Network (WQN) with cooperation from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS - As of October 2013, results from discrete water quality samples collected at this site are available through the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System web interface on the "Water Quality for the Nation" webpage. Analyses for pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen were performed on site. All other sample analyses were performed at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection laboratory in Harrisburg, Pa. Occasionally, values for filtered parameters may exceed values for the corresponding unfiltered parameter. These results are within the limits of analytical precision and methods.
