01477050 DELAWARE RIVER AT CHESTER, PA
LOCATION - Lat 39°50'44", long 75°21'03" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Delaware County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02040202, as of April 2016, water quality monitor is deployed in situ at Kimberly-Clark Paper Company Chester, PA, 0.4 miles upstream from previous installation 0.5 miles downstream from Ridley Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 10,300 mi².
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: October 1963 to current year. pH: January 1968 to current year. WATER TEMPERATURE: December 1961 to current year. DISSOLVED OXYGEN: December 1961 to current year.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Delaware River Basin Commission.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor since December 1961. Probes interfaced with a data collection platform since 1986. Probes placed insitu since 2008.
REMARKS - Data collection routinely suspended during winter months. Other interruptions in the record are due to malfunctions of the instrumentation. Prior to April 1981 monitoring site located at auxiliary tidal-gaging station at the end of Reynolds Aluminum Company pier, 0.5 mi downstream from Chester Creek in Chester. Prior to April 2016, site located at pump house on Kimberly Clark Property, 400’ upstream from Chester Creek. Since the 2000 water year, pH daily median values are computed instead of pH daily mean values. Water year 2014 water quality records for Specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, water temperature and pH are rated poor Oct. 1 to Dec. 3 and Fair Mar. 28 to Sept 30. Water year 2015 water quality records for specific conductance, water temperature and pH are rated fair; dissolved oxygen is rated poor. Water year 2016 water quality records for specific conductance, pH are dissolved oxygen are rated good; water temperature record rated good with exception of July 27-Aug 23 which are rated fair. Water year 2017 water quality records for water temperature, specific conductance and dissolved oxygen are rated good. Records for pH are rated good with exception of June 1-7 which are rated fair. Water year 2018 water quality records for water temperature and specific conductance are rated good. Records for pH and dissolved oxygen are rated fair. Beginning in water year 2019, water quality records are not rated as "excellent", "good", "fair", or "poor".

WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 33.0°C, Jul 21, 1977, Aug 3, 1999; minimum, 0.0°C, many days during winter periods. DISSOLVED OXYGEN: Maximum, 16.3 mg/L, Mar 28, 1993; minimum, 0.0 mg/L, on many days.
