Click to hide Water-Year Summary instructions and information
  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2023
01548303 Straight Run, Site 1, at Marsh Creek, PA
LOCATION - Lat 41°47'05", long 77°24'08" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Tioga County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050205, located on right, upstream end of bridge spanning Straight Run, on Township Road T452 (Straight Run Road), 0.9 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 6.48 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1984 to September 1985, July 2012 to October 2017 (discontinued).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Elevation of gage is 1,220 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from topographic map. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Maximum peak flow for period of daily record is estimated. Records for water year 2014 are fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Records for water year 2015 are good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Records for water year 2016 are good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Records for water year 2017 are good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - 2012 to October, 2017 (discontinued).
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: July 2012 to Oct. 2017. pH: July 2012 to Oct. 2017. WATER TEMPERATURE: July 2012 to Oct. 2017. DISSOLVED OXYGEN: July 2012 to Oct. 2017. TURBIDITY: July 2012 to Oct. 2017.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor interfaced with data collection platform with 15-minute recording interval.
REMARKS - The reporting precision of the turbidity probe in low turbidity water is +/-0.3 FNU. The lowest reportable value, 0 FNU, does not necessarily indicate a condition of zero turbidity. Turbidity values below 10 FNU are considered poor. Cross-sectional water quality data is available upon request. Historically water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. Subsequent to water year 2015, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius are reported. Records for water year 2014 are as follows; Water temperature, pH, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen records rated good. Specific conductance records are rated good except for period Apr 15,16, and May 18 to Jun 28, which is poor. Records for water year 2015 are as follows; Water temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen records rated excellent. Specific conductance records are rated good. Turbidity records are rated good, except those below 10 FNU, which are poor. Records for water year 2016 are as follows; Water temperature records are rated excellent. Specific conductance, pH, and dissolved oxygen records are rated good. Turbidity records are rated good, except for the period Jun 8 to Sep 30, which are rated fair, and those below 10 FNU, which are poor. Records for water year 2017 are as follows; Water temperature records are rated excellent. PH records are rated good. Specific conductance and dissolved oxygen records are rated good except for period May 10 to Jun 7 , which are fair. Turbidity records are rated fair, except for those below 10 FNU, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 107 microsiemens/cm, Sep 28 & 29, 2016; minimum, 17 microsiemens/cm, Jan 14, 2017. pH: Maximum, 8.0 standard units, many days; minimum, 6.4 standard units, Jan 31, 2013 and May 16, 2014. WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 21.9°C, Aug 13, 2016; minimum, -0.1°C, on many days during winter periods. DISSOLVED OXYGEN: Maximum, 14.8 mg/L, Mar 5,13,17,23, 2017; minimum, 6.9 mg/l on Aug. 20, 2015.
