01549500 BLOCKHOUSE CREEK NEAR ENGLISH CENTER, PA
LOCATION - Lat 41°28'25", long 77°13'52" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Lycoming County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050205, on right bank just downstream from bridge on State Highway 284, 0.7 mi upstream from Blacks Creek, 1.7 mi upstream from confluence with Texas Creek, and 5.0 mi northeast of English Center.
DRAINAGE AREA - 37.7 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 951: 1941. WSP 1031: 1942-44(M). WSP 1502: 1942. WDR PA-75-2: 1973(P), 1974(P).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1940 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 1,041.23 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (from benchmark). Prior to August 30, 2024, the datum of gage was reported as 1041.85 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.  Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Records are good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Mar 18, 1936 reached a stage of 9.0 ft, from floodmark, discharge, 5,780 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 1,200 ft³/s on basis of contracted-opening measurement at gage height 8.81 ft.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2010 to current year.
COOPERATION - Water-quality samples were collected as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Water-Quality Network (WQN) with cooperation from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS - As of October 2013, results from discrete water quality samples collected at this site are available through the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System web interface on the "Water Quality for the Nation" webpage. Analyses for pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen were performed on site. All other sample analyses were performed at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection laboratory in Harrisburg, Pa. Occasionally, values for filtered parameters may exceed values for the corresponding unfiltered parameter. These results are within the limits of analytical precision and methods.
