LOCATION - Lat 40°16'55", long 77°53'27" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Huntingdon County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050304, on left bank 0.2 mi upstream from Sugar Run, and 1.2 mi southwest of Shirleysburg.
DRAINAGE AREA - 301 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - The datum of gage was reported as 570 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 prior to August 4, 2025
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Continuous-record gaging station October 2017 to current year. Operated as a Continuous record, annual peak site (Annual maximum only) 1990 through September 2017.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, and water-quality monitor.  Datum of gage is 562.0 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (from GNSS survey). Prior to August 4, 2025, datum of gage was erroneously reported as 570 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.  Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS - Peak stage and discharge can be obtained by accessing Surface-water: Peak streamflow from the SUMMARY OF ALL AVAILABLE DATA. Peaks for water years 2014-2017 are rated fair. Records for water years 2018-2024 are fair except for estimated discharge, which is poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -

Maximum peak and stage: 18,500 cfs (estimated) occurred on September 2, 2021, at a stage of 15.51 ft.
