LOCATION - Lat 40°16'55", long 77°53'27" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Huntingdon County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050304, on left bank 0.2 mi upstream from Sugar Run, and 1.2 mi southwest of Shirleysburg.
DRAINAGE AREA - 301 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Continuous-record gaging station October 2017 to current year. Operated as a Continuous record, annual peak site (Annual maximum only) 1990 through September 2017.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 570 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from topographic map. Satellite and landline telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS - Peak stage and discharge can be obtained by accessing Surface-water: Peak streamflow from the SUMMARY OF ALL AVAILABLE DATA. Peaks for water years 2014-2017 are rated fair. Records for water years 2018-2023 are fair except for estimated discharge, which is poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge, 44,400 ft³/s, gage height, 19.46 ft, Jan. 19, 1996.
