01571500 YELLOW BREECHES CREEK NEAR CAMP HILL, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°13'29", long 76°53'54" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Cumberland County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050305, on left bank 50 ft downstream from single-span highway bridge on Green Lane Drive, 1.0 mi southeast of Camp Hill, and 3.1 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 213 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1302: 1910, 1912-13, 1914(M), 1916. WDR-US-2009: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1909 to December 1919, July 1954 to current year. Prior to January 1910 monthly discharge only, published in WSP 1302. Prior to June 1954, published as "at Olmsteds Mill".
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 307.49 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. March 1909 to December 1919, non-recording gage at site 50 ft upstream at same datum. Satellite and landline telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Water is diverted about 4 mi upstream from station for municipal supply. Record of diversions were provided to the USGS by the Mechanicsburg Water Company and filed with the Water Science Center through Water Year 2016. Records for water years 2014-2016 are fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Records for water year 2017 are fair except those for period Sept 13-24 and those for estimated discharges, which are poor. Records for water year 2018 are fair except estimated discharge, which is poor. Records for water years 2019-2022 are good except estimated discharge, which is poor. Records for water year 2023 are good except for period Sept 23-20, which is fair, and estimated discharge, which is poor.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Jul 22, 1953, reached a stage of 9.4 ft, from floodmarks, discharge, about 3,940 ft³/s.
