LOCATION - Lat 39°12'52", long 78°17'18" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Frederick County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02070004, 15 ft upstream from the bridge on State Highway 614, 1.3 miles southeast of Hayfield, 0.8 miles upstream from Gap Run, and opposite mouth of small unnamed branch.
DRAINAGE AREA - 15.9 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - OFR 2006-1308: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1960 to December 1986, October 1992 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 688.27 (±.1) ft above NAVD 88.
COOPERATION - Records were provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Some diurnal fluctuation at low flow from unknown cause. Maximum discharge, 4,090 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 870 ft³/s.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Instantaneous low flow, no flow part of day Sept. 14, 1968, cause unknown.
