  • Water Years 2019-2022: Records fair, except those above 2,500 ft³/s, and those for estimated discharges, which are poor.
  • Water Year 2018: Records good, except those above 2,500 ft³/s, and those for estimated discharges, which are poor.
  • Water Year 2017: Records good, except those above 1,000 ft³/s, and those for estimated discharges, which are poor.
  • Water Year 2016: Records good, except those above 1,000 ft³/s, and those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
  • Water Years 2014-2015: Records fair, except those above 1,000 ft³/s, and those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
  • Water Year 2013 and prior years' accuracy statements can be found in Annual Water Data Reports.

  • Some regulation at low flow by sand and gravel plants upstream from station. U.S. Geological Survey satellite data-collection platform at station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Aug. 23 or 24, 1933, reached a stage of about 15.5 ft at datum 14.00 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from floodmarks; discharge, 10,500 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 3,000 ft³/s on basis of velocity-area study.
    WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: December 2003 to December 2005, July 2006 to November 2007, March 2008 to current year. WATER TEMPERATURE: December 2003 to December 2005, July 2006 to November 2007, March 2008 to current year. pH: December 2003 to December 2005, July 2006 to November 2007, March 2008 to current year. TURBIDITY: December 2003 to December 2005, July 2006 to November 2007, March 2008 to current year. DISSOLVED OXYGEN: December 2003 to December 2005, July 2006 to November 2007, March 2008 to current year.
COOPERATION - Funding for water-quality data collection is provided by the Prince George's County Department of Environmental Resources and the U.S. Geological Survey.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor December 2003 to December 2005, July 2006 to November 2007, March 2008 to current year.
REMARKS - For 2015 WY. Turbidity values greater than 1,000 formazin nepthelometric units (FNU) exceed the instrument calibration range. Values are included in the record but are presumed to have lower precision. Missing record due to periodic instrument malfunction. For 2016 WY (December through end of January), some specific conductivity values greater than the high-end calibration range(SC-standard solution)values were included in the record, but presume to have lower precision even though SC probe is reliable.
