LOCATION - Lat 38°39'20", long 78°04'27" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Rappahannock County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080103, on left bank just downstream from bridge on State Highway 729, 0.8 mi upstream from mouth, and 1.0 mi northwest of Laurel Mills.
DRAINAGE AREA - 25.8 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR VA-72-1: 1971. WDR VA-74-1: 1972. OFR 2006-1308: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 373.487 ± 0.1 ft above NAVD 88. Formerly 374.62 ft NGVD of 1929.
COOPERATION - Records were provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Maximum discharge, 9,120 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 2,500 ft³/s on basis of velocity-area study and slope-area measurement of peak flow. At times, unknown amount of diversion for irrigation upstream from gage. Water-quality records for some prior periods have been collected at this location.
