LOCATION - Lat 37°54'26", long 79°25'20" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Rockbridge County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080202, on right bank at Rockbridge Baths, 1,200 ft upstream from bridge on State Highway 39, and 1.0 mi upstream from Hays Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 329 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 972: 1929-40, 1941(M). WSP 1002: 1930(m). WSP 1553: 1931(m).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1928 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1303. Prior to October 1945, published as North River at Rockbridge Baths.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,099.78 ft NAVD of 1988.
REMARKS - Since 1966, some regulation at times by Lake Merriweather on Little Calfpasture River. National Weather Service gage-height telemeter at station. Maximum discharge, 87,700 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 16,000 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement at peak flow.
