LOCATION - Lat 37°42'10", long 78°22'40" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Buckingham County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080203, on the left bank, 200 ft upstream from bridge on State Highway 676, 2.9 mi upstream from Hunts Creek, 3.8 mi upstream from Mouth, and 1.8 mi northwest of Arvonia.
DRAINAGE AREA - 226 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 972: 1928-29, 1932, 1933-34 (M), 1935. WSP 2104: 1928 (M), 1935-37 (M), 1940 (M), 1944 (M), 1949 (M), 1955 (M), drainage area. WDR VA-72-1: 1935, 1937, 1944, 1949, 1971 (M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 1926 to September 1995, June 2005 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1303.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 238.78 ft NGVD of 1929 (levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers). Prior to Feb. 15, 1936, nonrecording gage at present site and datum.
COOPERATION - Records were provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Maximum discharge, 42,200 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 5,900 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow. Water-quality records for some prior periods have been collected at this location.
