LOCATION - Lat 37°18'25", long 78°23'20" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Cumberland County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080207, on left bank at downstream side of bridge on State Highway 45 at north town limits of Farmville and 1.1 mi downstream from Buffalo Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 302 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 972: 1927-37, 1938(M). WSP 1303: 1927(M). OFR 2006-1308: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 1926 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 281.1 ft NAVD of 1988. Prior to Nov. 29, 1928, nonrecording gage at present site and datum.
REMARKS - Maximum discharge, 33,100 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 12,000 ft³/s on basis of contracted-opening measurement of peak flow. Diurnal fluctuation at low flow caused by Prince Edward Mill 0.2 mi upstream.
