LOCATION - Lat 37°02'42", long 79°50'40" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Franklin County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010101, on right bank 45 ft downstream from bridge on State Highway 122, 3.0 mi northeast of Rocky Mount, and 4.1 mi upstream from Maggodee Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 115 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1976 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 875.961±0.1ft above NAVD 88.
COOPERATION - Records were provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - American Electric Power gage-height transmitter at station with recorder at Roanoke. Maximum discharge, 20,800 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 7,000 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow. Water-quality records for some prior periods have been collected at this location by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
