- For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
- For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
- For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
- Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

LOCATION - Lat 36°30'54", long 80°18'11" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Stokes County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03010103, on left bank 165 ft upstream from bridge on North Carolina Highway 704, 700 ft downstream of remains of Georges Mill, 0.2 mi downstream of Elk Creek, 3 mi east of Francisco, and 7.9 mi downstream of Little Dan River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 129 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1303: 1938-50 (monthly runoff). WSP 1433: 1925-26, 1928-29, 1931, 1942, 1948. WDR NC-80-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1924 to September 1987, December 1991 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1303.
GAGE -
Water-stage recorder. The datum of the gage is 831.40 ft above NAVD88. Satellite telemetry at streamgage.
Historical: Datum of gage is 831.99 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to Nov. 15, 1929, nonrecording gage at same site and datum.
REMARKS - Since 1938, considerable diurnal fluctuation and regulation by Talbott and Townes Reservoirs and Pinnacles Hydroelectric Plant in Virginia, 28 mi upstream. Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally good except for estimated discharges, which are poor. EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of 1916 reached a stage of about 15 ft, from information by local residents, discharge, 16,000 ft³/s.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge 21,200 ft³/s, August 17, 1985; Maximum gage height 19.5 ft, August 17, 1985. Minimum daily mean discharge, 21 cfs, September 4, 1999.
