02069000 DAN RIVER AT PINE HALL, NC
LOCATION - Lat 36°19'09", long 80°03'01" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Stokes County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03010103, Located on the left bank of Secondary Road 2023, at Pine Hall, 1.5 miles upstream of Belews Creek and 2.5 miles downstream of Town Fork Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 501 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1923 to March 1926, April 1986 to October 1990, December 2008 to current year.
GAGE -

Water-stage recorder. The datum of the gage is 563.3 +-0.14 ft above the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 NAD83(2011) Geoid 18 as determined by a level II real time GNSS survey performed on May 20, 2020. Satellite telemetry at streamgage.

Historical: October 1923 to March 1926, nonrecording gage at different elevation. 

REMARKS -
Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-nc_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov. 
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of August 17, 1985 reached a stage of 25 ft, present datum, from floodmarks, discharge not determined. Flood of September 22, 1979 reached a stage of 27.5 ft, present datum, information supplied by local resident. 
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - The peak streamflow, 27800 cfs, which occurred on January 25, 2010 and is based on the maximum recorded gage-height of 25.77 ft. The Maximum gage-height is 27.94 ft which occurred on February 7, 2020. Minimum daily mean discharge, 65 cfs, September 9, 1925.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - December 2008 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Tipping-bucket raingage. Satellite telemetry at station.
REMARKS - Precipitation data collected during freezing periods may not be accurately reflected in daily record.
