LOCATION - Lat 36°37'10", long 79°30'16" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Pittsylvania County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010103, on right bank 200 ft downstream from Hickory Forest Creek, 400 ft upstream from bridge on State Highway 863 between Callahans Store and Mount Cross, 5.5 mi northwest of western city limits of Danville, and 5.8 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 111 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 972: 1930-41. OFR 2006-1308: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1929 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1303.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 458.356±0.1ft above NAVD 88. Prior to June 26, 1942, at site 1,200 ft downstream at datum of 454.81 ft NGVD of 1929.
COOPERATION - Records were provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Diurnal fluctuation at low flow caused by small mill upstream from station. Maximum discharge, 23,000 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 11,000 ft³/s.
