LOCATION - Lat 35°41'37", long 78°41'32" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Wake County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03020201, 0.1 mi downstream of Secondary Road 1375, 0.1 mi downstream of Lake Wheeler, and 2.0 mi north of McCullars Crossroads.
DRAINAGE AREA - 35.8 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Gage height and discharge for the period Aug. 26, 2021 to Apr. 21, 2023, were revised on June 22, 2023, based on changes to the gage datum. The mean gage-heights associated with discharge measurements #0284-#0308 were revised on June 22, 2023, based on changes to the gage datum.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - December 1987 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. The datum of the gage is 250.4 ft above NAVD88 NAD83(2011) geoid 18. Satellite telemetry at streamgage.

Historical: The previous datum was reported as 251.46 ft above NGVD29 supplemental adjustment of 1935.

REMARKS - Flow affected by regulation from Lake Wheeler. Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum Discharge 7,060 ft³/s, October 8, 2016; Maximum gage height 14.31 ft, October 8, 2016 as a result of Hurricane Matthew. Minimum daily mean discharge, 0.00 ft³/s, July 28, 2008 (multiple occurrences).
