02110500 WACCAMAW RIVER NEAR LONGS, SC
LOCATION - Lat 33°54'45", long 78°42'55" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Horry County, SC, Hydrologic Unit 03040206, on the upstream side of the upstream bridge on State Highway 9, 500 ft downstream from Buck Creek, 2.1 mi southeast of Longs, and at river mile 85.4.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,110 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1950 to current year.
GAGE - Data collection platform. Datum of gage is 4.22 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to Aug. 11, 1967, nonrecording gage at same site and datum.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good to fair. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -

Maximum Discharge 54,500 ft³/s, September 20, 2018; Maximum Gage-Height 20.19 ft, September 21, 2018 as a result of Hurricane Florence.

Min Daily mean discharge, 1 cfs, October 14, 1954.

For water year 2014: Specific Conductance records excellent except for Oct. 30 to Jan. 16, Sep. 4-29, which are good, and May 29 to July 1, which are poor; pH records excellent except for Nov. 1 to Dec. 2, which are poor; Temperature records excellent; Dissolved Oxygen records excellent except for July 2 to Aug. 5, which are fair; Turbidity records good except for Oct. 30 to Feb. 26, Apr. 30 to July 22, Aug. 5 to Sep. 29, which are poor.

For water year 2015: Specific Conductance records excellent except for 10/30-12/01 and 8/28-09/30, which are good; pH records good except for 8/28-09/30, which are fair; Temperature records excellent except for 8/28-09/30, which are good; Turbidity records fair except for 8/28-09/30, which are poor.

For water year 2016: Specific Conductance records excellent except for 10/1-10/20, which are good; pH records good; Temperature records excellent except for 10/1-10/20, 11/20-12/16, 1/27-3/8, which are good; Dissolved Oxygen records excellent except for 5/6-5/10, 5/25-6/22, which are good, 8/9-8/30, which are fair, 9/27-9/30, which are poor; Turbidity records poor.

SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 803 microsiemens/cm, June 24, 2011; minimum, 36 microsiemens/cm, October 13, 2016, October 14, 2016.
pH: Maximum, 8.7 standard units, December 11, 2007; minimum 5.1 standard units, April 18, 2008.
WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 35.5°C, August 10, 2007; minimum, 0.4°C on many days, the first occurrence was on January 07, 2018.
DISSOLVED OXYGEN: Maximum, 14.2 mg/L, December 4, 2007; minimum, 0.3 mg/L, July 17, 19, 2013.
TURBIDITY (YSI EXO3, April 21, 2021 - present): Maximum, 263 FNU, August 30, 2023; minimum 1.3 FNU, many days October 2021.
TURBIDITY (YSI6, April 26, 2007 - April 21, 2021): Maximum, 710 FNU, November 11, 2009; minimum, <1 FNU, many days. Prior to October 1, 2009 minimum threshold for Turbidity was <5 FNU which occurred many days in 2007-2009.
