02111391 W. KERR SCOTT RESERVOIR AT DAM NEAR WILKESBORO, NC
LOCATION - Lat 36°08'01", long 81°13'36" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Wilkes County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03040101, at W. Kerr Scott Dam on Yadkin River, 0.1 mi upstream from Fish Trap Creek, 2.0 mi upstream from Millers Creek, and 4.0 mi west of Wilkesboro.
DRAINAGE AREA - 367 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1962 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and staff at dam. Datum of gage is 999.40 ft above NAVD of 1988. Satellite telemetry at station.
REMARKS -

Lake is used for flood control, low-flow augmentation, recreation, and water supply. Some storage was affected during construction in July 1962, but gates were closed August 22, 1962. Reservoir reached normal pool elevation on January 19, 1963. Total capacity at elevation 1,075.0 ft is 6,664,680,000 ft³ of which 4,878,720,000 ft³ is controlled flood storage.

REMARKS - Raingage is operated in cooperation with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Wilmington District).
