02132320 BIG SHOE HEEL CREEK NEAR LAURINBURG, NC
LOCATION - Lat 34°45'02", long 79°23'12" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Scotland County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03040204, downstream side of bridge on U.S. Highway 74, 2.5 mi downstream of Jordan Creek, and 4.5 mi southeast of Laurinburg.
DRAINAGE AREA - 83.3 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR NC-04-1: 1998, 2000 (annual maximum discharge). The maximum discharge for the water years 1998 and 2000 have been revised to 631 ft³/s, Mar. 11, 1998, gage height, 4.75 ft and 811 ft³/s, Oct. 19, 1999, gage height, 5.03 ft, superseding figures published in reports for 1998 and 2000.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 1987 to current year. Occasional discharge measurements, water years 1949-54, 1959, 1962, 1968-69.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 161.1 ft above NAVD88 NAD83(2011) Geoid09. Satellite telemetry at streamgage.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor.  Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-nc_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge 6090 ft³/s, September 17, 2018; Maximum gage height 9.49 ft., September 17, 2018 as a result of Hurricane Florence.
