LOCATION - Lat 35°45'25.90", long 81°05'20.94" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Iredell County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03050101,

DRAINAGE AREA - 1,450 mi².

REVISIONS HISTORY - Gage height and discharge for the period March 31, 2016, to June 15, 2023, were revised on October 16, 2023, and mean gage-height readings associated with discharge measurements #01-#23 were also revised based on changes to the gage datum.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - March 2016 to current water year.

GAGE - Water Stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 747.598 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1988, from GPS. Satellite telemetry at streamgage.

REMARKS -

Considerable regulation, caused by Lookout Shoals Hydro Station 120 ft. upstream.

Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-nc_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -

The maximum instantaneous gage height is 30.59 ft on 11/12/2020. The minimum instantaneous gage height is 9.17 ft on 1/22/2020.

The maximum instantaneous discharge is 65900 cfs on 11/12/2020. The minimum instantaneous discharge is 22.5 cfs on 1/22/2020.
