02146348 COFFEY CREEK NEAR CHARLOTTE, NC
LOCATION - Lat 35°08'45", long 80°55'37" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Mecklenburg County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03050103, on left bank at culvert on North Carolina Highway 49, 1.2 mi upstream from mouth, and 7.5 mi southwest of Charlotte.
DRAINAGE AREA - 9.14 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - The datum was revised because the original NAVD88 datum was found to be in error by the Level II GNSS survey that was performed by USGS personnel on November 16, 2022.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1998 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 565.72 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Radio telemetry at streamgage.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-nc_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge for period of record, 1,920 ft³/s, November 12, 2020, from rating curve extended above 950 ft³/s on basis of culvert computation of peak flow at gage height 12.11 ft. Maximum Recorded Stage, 12.97 ft, November 12, 2020.
