LOCATION - Lat 35°09'31", long 80°42'48" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Mecklenburg County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03050103, on right bank at downstream side of bridge on Sam Newell Road (Secondary Road 3168), 4.0 mi southwest of Mint Hill.
DRAINAGE AREA - 8.37 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 1999 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 612.56 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988, from levels. Radio telemetry at streamgage.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-nc_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge for period of record, 2,670 ft³/s, June 18, 2003, from rating curve extended above 500 ft³/s on basis of step-backwater and culvert analyses. No flow occurred August 13-15, 2002, September 12, 13, 25-30, 2007, October 1, 2, 6-20, 2007, July 8-23, 26-27, 2015, September 10, 14, 2018.
