SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2000 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite telemetry with a water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is North American Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988 (levels by Global Positioning System).
COOPERATION - Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve; Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division; University of Georgia Marine Institute at Sapelo Island.
REMARKS -

Gage-height records are generally good. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-ga_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.  Gage datum was revised on May 17, 2021, based on an error in the determination of gage datum.  All data was adjusted by +1.096 feet up to 05/18/21.  Gage height affected significantly by astronomical tides.

For period 10/01/2017 to 04/15/2019:  Specific Conductance records are rated good, except for the period 05/24/2018 to 08/01/2018 which is rated good-fair, and the period 08/01/2018 to 08/11/2018 which is rated fair-poor; pH, Water Temperature, and Dissolved Oxygen records are rated good; Turbidity records are rated poor; Salinity records are rated good, except for the period 05/24/2018 to 08/01/2018 which is rated good-fair, and the period 08/01/2018 to 08/11/2018 which is rated fair-poor.

Data for parameter code 63680 (turbidity) were collected using a probe with the following specifications: turbidity, water, monochrome near infra-red LED light, 780-900 nm, detection angle 90 +/ -2.5 degrees, FNU (Formazin Nephelometric Units). Subsequent to October 1, 2004, turbidity data were published using parameter code 00076: turbidity, water, unfiltered, NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units).

Salinity records prior to the 2011 Water Year are available upon request.
