02253000 MAIN CANAL AT VERO BEACH, FL
LOCATION - Lat 27°38'51", long 80°24'21" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 sec.35, T.32 S., R.39 E., Indian River County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03080203, near left bank on upstream side of bridge, 0.3 mi upstream from U.S. Highway 1, and 0.6 mi northwest of Vero Beach.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1949 to November 2008; December 2008 to September 2009 (gage height and discharge measurements); October 2009 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1724.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, acoustic velocity meter, tainter gate, concrete dam, and data-collection platform. Datum of gage is at NGVD of 1929 and 1.42 ft below NAVD of 1988. Prior to Mar. 20, 1952, at datum 0.74 ft lower. Mar. 20, 1952 to Sept. 30, 1956, at datum 0.02 ft lower. Prior to Nov. 13, 2008, at site 1000 ft downstream at same datum.
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the St. Johns River Water Management District.
REMARKS - Discharge not published some days due to bad or missing gage-height or velocity record. Considerable pumping into canal for drainage upstream from station. Since Aug. 6, 1954, flow regulated by control structure 1.5 mi upstream.
