LOCATION - Lat 28°05'56", long 81°31'51" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 sec.29, T.27 S., R.28 E., Polk County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03090101, on northeast shore of lake, 4.5 mi east of Haines City.
DRAINAGE AREA - 35.7 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - February to August 1958 (weekly); September 1958 to August 2005 (once daily); September 2005 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and data-collection platform. Datum of gage is at NGVD of 1929 (South Florida Water Management District bench mark). July 21, 1959 to Sept. 8, 1963, at site 500 ft north and Sept. 9, 1963 to Jan. 29, 1974, at present site, at datum 63.22 ft higher.
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the South Florida Water Management District.
REMARKS - Surface area 2,968 acres (4.64 mi²). Lake is in the headwaters of Kissimmee River. Outflow from lake is through Lake Marion Creek to Lake Hatchineha.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum daily elevation observed, 68.45 ft, Sept. 29, 2004; minimum daily, 64.40 ft, May 31, 2007.
