02292010 CALOOSAHATCHEE CANAL DWS OF S-77 AT MOORE HAVEN FL
LOCATION - Lat 26°50'00", long 81°05'20" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 sec.12, T.42 S., R.32 E., Glades County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03090205, in NW 1/4 sec.12, T.42 S., R.32 E.,500 ft downstream of Railroad Bridge over C-43 canal (Caloosahatchee River). Downstream 0.43 mi of S-77 water control structure at Lake Okeechobee, located on concrete wing-wall of the right bank, 210 ft upstream of U.S. Highway 27 Bridge near downtown Moore Haven, FL.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 2008 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite data collection platform with water-stage shaft encoder and Acoustic Doppler velocity meter. Datum of gage is National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by control structure S-77 gates and lock at Lake Okeechobee. Flow frequently reversed during and after periods of heavy rainfall by pumpage into the canal from agricultural lands in the Everglades (negative figures indicate reverse flow towards Lake Okeechobee).
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, 12.31 ft June 8, 2017; minimum, 8.30 ft May 21, 2008.
