LOCATION - Lat 26°42'27.91", long 81°33'28.93" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in sec.30, T.43 S., R.28 E., Hendry County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03090205, 550 ft south/upstream from the SR 80 bridge, 0.53 mi upsteam from the Caloosahatchee River, located on the right edge of water.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - December 1975 to July 1995 (discontinued); December 2018 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite data collection platform with water-stage vented pressure, and acoustic Doppler velocity meter. Datum of gage is North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88). Prior to December 2018 water-stage recorders on north side of bridge on SR-80, 3.2 mi east of Alva, 9 mi west of La Belle, and 9.6 mi east of Olga. This was the main/center gage. Datum of gage was National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Prior to July 1983, deflection vane recorder at same site and datum. Prior to Oct. 1, 1987, electromagnetic velocity meter at same site and datum. Apr. 17, 1987 supplementary water-stage recorder at site 1,000 ft downstream at same datum. Dec. 4, 1987, auxiliary upstream recorder at site above primary gage, primary (center) gage destroyed June 8, 1992 and rebuilt on June 7, 1994 until again destroyed on July 29, 1995.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by pump station upstream and control and gate structure downstream. Flow frequently reversed to supply water for agricultural purposes (negative figures indicate flow to the south). Discharge computed from stage-discharge relation and slope discharge relation, were not published for the 1993 to 1995 water years. Prior to December 2018, NGVD29 records are available in the files of the U.S. Geological Survey.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -

GAGE HEIGHT: Maximum gage height, 7.95 ft, Sept. 28, 2022; minimum 0.56 ft, Sept. 27, 2022 (present datum).

DISCHARGE: Maximum positive discharge, 3,277 ft³/s Nov. 9, 2020; maximum negative, 534 ft³/s May 8, 2019.
