02294781 PEACE RIVER NEAR HOMELAND, FL.
LOCATION - Lat 27°49'27", long 81°48'08" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 sec.34, T.30 S., R.25 E., Polk County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03100101, Within the Mosaic Peace River Park. Enter using the second boardwalk entrance near the Handicap Parking Area. continue on boardwalk to junction and continue straight. Gage is located at river overlook on right side near bench.
DRAINAGE AREA - 411 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR FL-98-3A: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - 1974, 1979 (miscellaneous highwater discharge measurements only); October 1980 to June 1998 (discharge measurements only); July 1998 to September 2001 (gage heights and discharge measurements only); October 2001 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Prior to February 7, 2021, gage located approximately 0.3 mi downstream at Hwy 640, at current datum.
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
REMARKS - Discharge may not compare well to other Peace River stations due to occasional losses of water to ground-water system.
