LOCATION - Lat 27°14'06.79", long 82°18'42.82" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 sec.21, T.37 S., R.20 E., Sarasota County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03100102, upstream side of State Highway 72 bridge, 1.1 mi upstream from Lower Myakka Lake, 14 mi southeast of Sarasota, and 36 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 229 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1234: Drainage area. WDR FL-73-3: Drainage area. WRD FL-90-3A: 1989 water year discharge. WDR FL-99-3A:Instantaneous peak gage height and date for period of record for water years 1994-1998.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1936 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 7.92 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Prior to Apr. 10, 1941, nonrecording gage at present site, at same datum; Apr. 10, 1941, to June 28, 1961, nonrecording gage on right bank, 0.5 mi upstream, at same datum; June 28, 1961, to January 25, 2021, gage located on right bank, 0.5 mi upstream, at same datum. 
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2001 to October 2016 (discontinued).
INSTRUMENTATION - A 6-inch diameter, tipping bucket precipitation gage 15-minute interval, mounted on 1.5 in. metal pipe near right bank, approximately 35 ft N.E. of gage platform, with the top of funnel 10 ft above the ground.
REMARKS - Collection, computation and publication of precipitation data do not necessarily conform to standards used by the National Weather Service.
