02306000 SULPHUR SPRINGS AT SULPHUR SPRINGS, FL.

LOCATION - Lat 28°01'15", long 82°27'07" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 sec.25, T.28 S., R.18 E., Hillsborough County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03100205, on east side of spring pool, 100 ft west of U. S. Highway 41 in Sulphur Springs, and 500 ft upstream from mouth of outlet channel at Hillsborough River.

REVISIONS HISTORY - WRD FL-91-3A: Discharge and diversion published in 1988-90; WDR FL-03-3A: Discharge and diversion published in 1997 and diversion published in 2002.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - 1917, 1929, 1930 (one discharge measurement in each year); February 1931 to June 1934 (monthly discharge measurements published as "at Tampa"); 1935, 1945, 1946 (miscellaneous discharge measurements); May 1956 to June 1959 (periodic discharge measurements only); July 1959 to current year.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 and 0.79 ft below North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to July 15, 1959, nonrecording gage at same site and datum.

COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County.

REMARKS - Flow regulated by gates at head of springs. Some diversions at times by pumping from the spring pool into Hillsborough River above and below the dam by the City of Tampa Water Department. Statistics do not include diverted flow.

CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - June 2016 to current year.

INSTRUMENTATION - An 8-inch diameter, tipping bucket precipitation gage 15-minute interval, mounted on a 2-inch diameter aluminum pipe with the top of the funnel 7 ft above the ground.

REMARKS - Collection, computation and publication of precipitation data do not necessarily conform to standards used by the National Weather Service.

WATER-QUALITY RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1999 to current year.

COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with Southwest Florida Water Management District.

INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor consisting of specific conductance and temperature sensors located at 0.25 ft below NGVD 1929.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -

SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 8,280 microsiemens, Aug. 7, 8, 2011; minimum, 1,780 microsiemens, June 27, 2002. TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 26.2°C, several days in July, August, and September 2023; minimum, 23.8°C, several days in January 2011.
