LOCATION - Lat 27°56'30", long 82°27'32" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 sec.25, T.29 S., R.18 E., Hillsborough County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03100205, Southwest bridge bumper on downstream side of bridge, at Platt Street near mouth, and 0.6 mi south of downtown post office at Tampa.
DRAINAGE AREA - 694 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD - January to August 1997 (maximum and minimum gage heights only), incomplete; February 2001 to September 2003 (maximum and minumum gage heights only); October 2003 to September 2010 (tidal high-high and low-low gage heights only); October 2010 to current year (maximum and minimum gage heights only). INSTRUMENTATION - An 8-inch diameter, tipping bucket precipitation gage 15-minute interval, mounted on a 2-inch diameter aluminum pipe with the top of the funnel 3 ft above deck.
PERIOD OF RECORD - January to August 1997 (top and bottom sensors); February 2001 to current year (top, middle, and bottom sensors).
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitors consisting of three specific conductance and temperature sensors located at various depths in the river. The top sonde is located at 8.0 ft above gage datum, the middle sonde at 6.0 ft above gage datum, and the bottom sonde is located at 4.1 ft above gage datum.
