  • January 22, 2018 - USGS Water Data availability during lapse in Federal funding

Due to a lapse in Federal funding, the U.S. Geological Survey must suspend those parts of its data collection and distribution processes requiring human intervention. However, automated reporting and serving of telemetered data will continue.

Users may note some degradation in the quality and completeness of real-time streamflow, groundwater and water-quality data from some reporting stations due to the suspension of field calibrations and adjustments, especially as high flows occur, aquatic vegetation becomes dominant, or ice forms in high altitude streams. The USGS will continue to monitor some performance aspects of its network using a skeleton workforce.

Click to hide Water-Year Summary instructions and information
  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2017
LOCATION - Lat 30°04'21", long 84°19'39" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Wakulla County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03120001, near right bank 0.75 mi downstream of Spring Creek Campground boat ramp, 9 mi southeast of Crawfordville, 9.75 mi southwest of St. Marks, and 28.5 mi south of Tallahassee.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 25, 2007, to September 30, 2010 (Discontinued). Reinstalled on Oct. 1, 2013 to present.
REVISED RECORDS - Discharge for the period Jul. 22, 2015, to Sept. 30, 2015, was revised on April 14, 2017, based on changes to the processing of the mean water velocity.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, index-velocity meter, and data-collection platform. Datum of gage is North American Vertical Datum of 1988.
COOPERATION - Northwest Florida Water Management District and Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS - Streamflow at this site is affected significantly by astronomical tides. Starting on October 1, 2013, daily mean discharge was computed using the Godin low-pass filter to remove tidal effects from instantaneous values.
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 15, 2013 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - A 6-inch diameter, tipping bucket precipitation Gage 15-minute-interval, mounted to a 2-inch diameter pipe.
REMARKS - Collection, computation and publication of precipitation data do not necessarily conform to standards used by the National Weather Service.
REVISED RECORDS - Precipitation records from May 8, 2014 to September 30, 2016, are unreliable and should not be used.
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 25, 2007, to September 30, 2010 (Discontinued). Reinstalled Oct. 1, 2013 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor consisting of specific conductance and temperature.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - TEMPERATURE: Maximum instantaneous value, 33.5 °C on July 28, 2015; Minimum instantaneous value, 10.6 °C on many days. SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum instantaneous value, 46,400 µs/cm on many days; Minimum instantaneous value, 660 µs/cm on March 30, 2014.
