LOCATION - Lat 31°24'48", long 86°03'47" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Coffee County, AL, Hydrologic Unit 03140202, on downstream side of bridge on U.S. Highway 84 in Elba, 0.2 miles downstream of Whitewater Creek, 4.5 miles upstream of Elba Dam, and at mile 61.8.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of ggae is 159.15 ft above NAVD of 1988, (Reference Frame NAD_83 (2011) (EPOCH:2010.0000) GEOID18). Prior to April 07, 2023 the datum of gage was 159.24 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to June 19, 1934, at datum 0.1 ft lower.
COOPERATION - This station is maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey as a part of the National Streamflow Information Program.
REMARKS - Record considered good. Stage affected by operation of hydroelectric plant at Elba Dam.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of March 1929 reached a stage of 43.5 ft from reports of National Weather Service.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, 43.28 ft, (from highwater marks), Mar. 17, 1990; minimum gage height, 0.5 ft, May 14, 15, 1932.
