LOCATION - Lat 31°20'53", long 86°31'46" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Covington County, AL, Hydrologic Unit 03140301, on downstream handrail of State Highway 84 bridge, 0.8 mi east of River Falls, and at river mile 77.8.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,277 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1928 to September 1979, October 1980 to September 1996, November 2003 to September 2005, May 2006 to September 2009. (gage heights only). October 2009 to March 31, 2013 (daily discharges). April 1, 2013 to current year (flood-hydrograph station). This station, "Conecuh River at River Falls," 02372430 was operated as an observer site from 1928 to 1996. Gage height records published in reports of National Weather Service for period November 1928 to December 1971 and in reports of U.S. Geological Survey for period January 1972 to September 1996. NWS gage was referenced to same datum as current site.
GAGE -

Water-stage recorder.  Datum of gage is 120.08 ft above NAVD of 1988.  (Reference Frame NAD_83 (2011) (EPOCH:2010.0000) GEOID18).

Prior to April 07, 2023 datum of gage was 120.80 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to June 23, 1934, nonrecording gage located on left bank 1,400 ft upstream at datum 2.88 ft higher. June 23, 1934, to March 3, 1953, nonrecording gage on downstream side of bridge located 1,000 ft upstream at datum 2.88 ft higher.

REMARKS - Record considered good. Published as flood-hydrograph station since April, 2013; therefore discharges are computed only when 400 ft³/s or greater.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - (AT 0700) Maximum gage height, 52.5 ft, March 15, 1929; minimum gage height, -1.8 ft, September 11, 1938.
