LOCATION - Lat 34°31'23.7", long 84°36'39.7" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Pickens County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03150102, on left bank, 300 feet downstream from Scarecorn Creek, and 3.3 miles northwest of Hinton, GA.
DRAINAGE AREA - 119 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR GA-80-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
DISCHARGE: November 1973 to current year.
GAGE HEIGHT: October 1998 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite telemetry with a water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 894.04 feet above North American Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988 (GNSS survey).
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of May 28, 1973, reached a stage of 15.45 feet, from flood marks; discharge 18,400 cfs from rating curve extended above 6,200 cfs on basis of slope-area measurements of gage height 15.45 feet.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge recorded, 19,000 cfs, July 16, 2003; maximum gage height recorded, 15.65 feet, July 16, 2003; minimum daily discharge, 1.6 cfs, August 25, 2007, September 9-10, 12, 2007.
