02400496 COOSA RIVER AT GADSDEN STEAMPLANT NEAR GADSDEN, AL
LOCATION - Lat 34°00'50", long 85°58'13" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Etowah County, AL, Hydrologic Unit 03150106, at Alabama Power Company intake structure on left bank at Gadsden Steamplant, 1 mi east of Gadsden, 1.1 mi downstream of Coal Creek, and at river mile 174.8.
DRAINAGE AREA - 5,800 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1965 to current year. Daily gage heights are published beginning October 1994.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 486.114 feet above NAVD of 1988. Prior to March 22, 2021, datum of gage was 485.97 feet above NGVD of 1929. Gage was used as auxiliary water-stage recorder for station 02400500, Coosa River at Gadsden, AL for the period May 1965 to September 1996.
REMARKS - Record considered good. Since December 1949, flow regulated by Allatoona Reservoir (station 02393500) 158.8 mi upstream, and since April 1961, by Weiss Reservoir (station 02399499) 51.3 mi upstream. Gage in pool of H. Neely Henry Reservoir.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, 25.80 ft, Nov. 24, 2005; minimum gage height, 13.37 ft, Feb. 8, 1997.
