LOCATION - Lat 31°03'07", long 89°12'15" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.16, T.1 N., R.12 W., Forrest County, MS, Hydrologic Unit 03170007, St. Stephens Meridian, near right bank at downstream side of downstream bridge of dual bridges on U.S. Highway 49, 1.1 mi southwest of Brooklyn, and 4.5 mi upstream from Chaney Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 355 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR MS-80-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1970 to current year. Occasional discharge measurements, water years 1942-45, 1954-57, 1959, 1961, 1964-66.
GAGE -

Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 127.68 ft above NAVD of 1988, (Reference Frame NAD_83 (2011) (EPOCH:2010.0000), (GEOID18).

 

Prior to August 24, 2022 Datum of Gage was 128.14 ft above NGVD of 1929 (Mississippi State Highway Department bench mark).

REMARKS - Records good, except for periods of estimated data which are considered poor. Satellite telemeter at station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Feb. 18, 1961, reached a stage of 25.70 ft, discharge, 21,500 ft³/s.
