LOCATION - Lat 32°50'29", long 89°05'52" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.06, T.11 N., R.12 E., Neshoba County, MS, Hydrologic Unit 03180001, Choctaw Meridian, on right bank at downstream edge of roadway at bridge 172.4 on State Highway 15, 2.4 mi upstream from Illinois Central and Gulf railroad, 4.8 mi north of Philadelphia and 0.9 mi south of Burnside.
DRAINAGE AREA - 520 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1981 to current year. Daily mean gage heights published since October 1984.
GAGE -

Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 374.97 ft above NAVD of 1988 (Reference Frame NAD_83 (2011) (EPOCH:2010.0000), (GEOID18). 

Prior to August 24, 2022 the Datum of Gage was 376 ft above NGVD of 1929.

COOPERATION - Pearl River Valley Water Supply District
REMARKS - 10/01/2013 - 09/30/2014: Estimated daily discharges: October 3,4; March 28-31. Records good except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Telemeter and satellite telemeter at station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge observed, 76,600 ft³/s, Apr. 13, 1979, gage height, 23.60 ft.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Precipitation Record; Feb 10, 1998 to current
INSTRUMENTATION - 8-inch Design Analysis H-340 tipping-bucket precipitation gage was re-located to stream ward roof corner of USGS walk-in shelter at end of downstream right guardrail.  Top of the collection funnel is ~ 8 feet above the ground surface and is not equipped with a wind shield.  A 6-foot ladder is needed for maintenance access.

Maximum accumulated sum = 7.37 inches on Sep 04-05, 2011

Maximum daily sum = 6.60 inches on Sep 05 (TS Lee)

Maximum accumulated sum = 7.14 inches on Feb 10 to 13, 2020

Maximum daily sum = 4.57 inches on Oct 30, 2019

REMARKS - Rainfall is recorded at a resolution of 0.01 inches with a 25 inch/hour maximum recorder rate.
