LOCATION - Lat 32°47'56", long 89°20'06" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.13, T.11 N., R.9 E., Leake County, MS, Hydrologic Unit 03180001, Choctaw Meridian, on right bank 10 ft downstream from bridge 122.8 on State Highway 16 at Edinburg, 1,100 ft downstream from Hooper Mill Creek, 1.6 mi upstream from Rice Creek and at mile 387.5.
DRAINAGE AREA - 904 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1504: 1929-30, 1933. WDR MS-80-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1928 to current year. Daily mean gage heights published since January 1972. Gage-height records collected in same vicinity since 1908 are contained in reports of National Weather Service.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of Gage is 341.54 ft above NAVD of 1988 (Reference Frame NAD_83 (2011) (EPOCH:2010.0000), (GEOID18).  Prior to 02/15/2023, Datum of gage was 341.67 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to July 2, 1930, nonrecording gage at site 500 ft upstream at datum 0.12 ft higher. July 2, 1930, to Sept. 20, 1938, nonrecording gage at present site and datum.
COOPERATION - Pearl River Valley Water Supply District
REMARKS - 10/01/2013 - 09/30/2014: No estimated daily discharges. Records good. Satellite telemeter and National Weather Service telemeter at station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - The flood in March 1902 reached a stage of 29.0 ft, from reports of National Weather Service.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Precipitation Record; Mar 10, 2000 to current
INSTRUMENTATION - 8-inch Design Analysis H-340 (Sn 1312) tipping-bucket precipitation gage was re-located to walkway hand rail at USGS walk-in shelter on Feb 21, 2018.  Top of collection funnel is ~ 10 feet above ground surface and is not equipped with a wind shield.
