LOCATION - Lat 32°18'13", long 90°11'33" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.03, T.5 N., R.1 E., Hinds County, MS, Hydrologic Unit 03180002, Choctaw Meridian, at bridge at 217 North Gallatin street in Jackson, 300 ft upstream of Illinois Central Railroad and about 2.5 miles upstream from mouth to the Pearl River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 11.4 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1954 to current year (Annual peaks only prior to 1989 water year).
GAGE - Flood hydrograph partial-record station. Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 260.72 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to Mar. 2, 1988, at datum 2.00 ft higher.
REMARKS - Records good. Occasional backwater from Pearl River.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of 1921, maximum discharge, 6,000 ft³/s, gage height, 19.00 ft (but may have been at different datum).
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -

Maximum instantaneous discharge = 5,790 cfs on April 3, 2017.

Maximum instantaneous gage height = 13.12 feet on April 3, 2017.

Indirect measurement (April 3, 2017) : HWM = 13.18 feet and 5,860 cfs fell within 1.2% of RT-7.
