  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2021
LOCATION - Lat 41°51'09", long 79°19'03" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Warren County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010001, on right bank 150 ft downstream from bridge on Main Street at Youngsville, 500 ft upstream from Matthews Run, and 3.7 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 321 mi². including that of Matthews Run.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 743: Drainage area. WSP 1083: 1913 (M). WSP 1275: 1920, 1932, 1936. WSP 1305: 1910-15, 1928-29. WDR-US-2007: 1913 (M).
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1909 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1305. Flow of Matthews Run included in records since October 1938 until October 2018.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,186.92 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (from benchmark). Prior to Sep 30, 1933, non-recording gage at site 150 ft upstream at datum 2.00 ft higher. Oct 1, 1933 to Jun 15, 1939, non-recording gage at site 150 ft upstream, and Jun 16, 1939 to Sep 30, 1961, water-stage recorder at present site, both at datum 1.00 ft higher. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for this station is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Maximum peak stage of 14.20 at present datum. Instantaneous low flow of 19 cfs was minimum observedRecords good for water year except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2002 to current year.
REMARKS - Samples were collected using rapid bioassessment protocols for benthic macroinvertebrates using a D-Frame net with a mesh size of 500 mm. Counts are based on a randomly-selected 100-organism (approximate) subsample.
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2002 to current year.
COOPERATION - Water-quality samples were collected as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Water-Quality Network (WQN) with cooperation from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS - As of October 2013, results from discrete water quality samples collected at this site are available through the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System web interface on the "Water Quality for the Nation" webpage. Analyses for pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen were performed on site. All other sample analyses were performed at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection laboratory in Harrisburg, PA. Occasionally, values for filtered parameters may exceed values for the corresponding unfiltered parameter. These results are within the limits of analytical precision and methods.
